How does it work?
To use Twitter with text messaging, just compose a new text message to the shortcode DOTCOM (368266), and send the word twitter in the body of the message. The first time it will prompt you to visit dotgo.com to connect your phone and twitter account. Once connected, texting twitter to DOTCOM (368266) will bring you to the main menu.

Will I be charged for texting?
You can use Twitter by text messaging for free, but standard message and data rates apply. Many people these days have unlimited texting plans, but you should check with your cellular carrier if you aren't sure.

How do I reply to a menu?
You can simply reply with the numbers next to the menu items that appear in parentheses. For example, to look at the current trending topics, just reply 3 from the main menu.

Does this work outside the US? DOTGO is in the process of expanding internationally. Please check the country selector drop down at the top of the page for a full list of countries where the service is available.

Are there any navigation shortcuts?
Yes. Any of these commands can be texted to DOTCOM (368266):

  • twitter tweet (tweet) [ex. twitter tweet wonder what the @bronxzooscobra is up to!?]
    Tweets the word or phrase after twitter tweet. In the example, the phrase "wonder what the @bronxzooscobra is up to!?" would be tweeted to your followers.
  • twitter timeline
    Pulls up the most recent tweets from those you follow.
  • twitter mentions
    Your most recent Twitter @mentions.
  • twitter trends
    Pulls up the current trending topics on Twitter.
  • twitter search (text) [ex. 'twitter search donuts']
    Performs a Twitter search.
  • twitter #(topic) [ex. 'twitter #sharkweek']
    Pulls up the most recent tweets containing the #hashtaged topic.
  • twitter @(user) [ex. 'twitter @nytimes']
    Pulls up the user's profile.
  • twitter bio
    Pulls up your Twitter bio.
  • twitter profile
    Pulls up your own Twitter profile
  • twitter help
    A friendly reminder of these Twitter shortcuts.
